I petition Cape Breton Regional Municipality mayor Cecil Clarke, councillors and staff NOT to sell Archibald's Wharf waterfront and recreational area for industrial use.

Seeing 500 names on this petition fills me with hope because I remember how often I walked that wharf with my grandfather. This community clearly loves that waterfront as much as I do.

Seeing this much support for our waterfront leaves me overwhelmed because I remember playing on that wharf as a child. This surge shows that we all believe this space belongs to the community rather than to developers.

Council says this is not costing us the taxpayers of c br m nothing , but over the years millions of dollars were spent on Archibald's wharf and we only get back 200,000 thousand , it seems to me were are subsidiing private industry

Archibald's wharf is an excellent spot for kids to play and to encourage a more active lifestyle. If anything our mayor should be creating more spaces for our community to meet with one another and be active instead of eliminating these spaces.

There is enough room to build on the far side of the wharf to the ballast grounds or on the Rollie's former property. There are vey few reasons why we take once green space we have in this town for the sake of a business that could be constructed in many near by areas.

We have very places for events and families to gather in our town. CBRM is always asking the question what can we do to stop outmigration, what can we do to attract young people? Taking away green spaces and areas for families to play is the wrong way to attract growth.

This is a very important feature to the Northside, The area has lost so much over the years, we need to keep these recreational areas for the future of the Town. Whenever I make a trip back home this is one of the spots I always visit.

Huge mistake if industry is put there. The view and the businesses there are part of the charm (if not the only charm) of downtown North Sydney. Industry will pollute the air & water in particular. Why not locate the industry in the Industrial park?

When a private company gets the waterfront pear of downtown real estate that has had at least $4-million of tax payers money put into it, for only $200K, that is theft of public land, not commerce.

What is going on about the sale of Archibald's Wharf; is like watching some kind of horror movie and the climax being, : Is this really going to happen"? Will Superman be able to break woven chest chains on route to ocean's bottom in the nick of time to stop this dictatorship approach to democracy!
