Once again there is talk of replacing the Ferry Services at Englishtown and Little Narrows with bridges. These Ferry services are a vital part of the local tourism industry, providing a human connection and personal touch that we as Cape Bretoners are so well known for. They are a part of our landscape and our history. Not to mention they provide much needed jobs in an economically depressed area. The purpose of this petition is to bring to the attention of our government officials that there are many of us NOT in favour of spending $50 million dollars to build bridges! This petition will be forwarded to Geoff MacLellan and Pam Eyking to let them know that. Keep the jobs, keep the landscape- Keep the Ferrys!!

I have been hearing from so many of you who rely on these daily crossings to get to work and keep our communities connected. The silence from the department is frustrating but it only confirms that we need to keep pushing for these jobs and our history. I am currently preparing our formal submission to the officials to ensure they see exactly how many of us reject this plan.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that I am not the only one fighting to keep our ferries alive. These boats are the heartbeat of our community and I am moved by how many of you value our history as much as I do.

As a tourist to the area, I would want to have the joy of using the ferry. Please don't create a hardship for your local employees and destroy a part of your wonderful heritage.

When I'm at work and visitors ask me where I'm from. I say Englishtown and they always say "Oh, where the ferry is." I like that and don't want to lose the service.

Once again the Government is trying to spend millions of dollars to replace a system that is working well, keeping the local people employed. Why not spend these millions on the roads that are in such deplorable condition!!

The ferry system is a source of employment in a province with ridiculous unemployment rates. Cutting jobs won't help the area prosper.

This ferry is truly part of the character of the area. For this reason and providing employment to local folks, it should be retained

What an iconic feature at the route to the Cabot Trail. To hop on the ferry ⛴ and cross the Bay brings to mind the deep rooted heritage this transportation has in these small communities, and are definitely part of the draw to tourists and locals alike. Please keep the ferry!!!
