Many students are unable to attend the 9th of December onsite as it requires a second trip to Dublin in one week. The reality is that this cannot be done by many students living far from the location of UCD. Family as well as work restrictions will affect us all at that time on the run up to christmas and the staff should recognise that.
I have been reading your messages about how difficult this extra travel is for everyone during the busy season. It is clear that I am not the only one struggling to balance work and these unexpected requirements. I am currently reaching out to the department to express your frustration directly.

Seeing this grow so quickly confirms that I am not the only one struggling to balance these impossible travel demands with my job and family life. Your support shows that we are all feeling the same pressure and it gives me the strength to push for the change we need.

Like my fellow peers I think this onsite needs to be postponed or changed to regional onsites. We have only found out this onsite was taking place in Dublin less than a week ago 4days after we will have already travelled to Dublin for our Irish exam. We ask the college to consider the heavy workload currently ob the students and ask for the date to be changed until January or even have this day run as half day at our regional onsites.

With Ped 2 due up, Christmas engagements and family commitments a second trip to Dublin in 4 days is simply not feasible for most.

Better planning should have taken place. It's not practical to travel to Dublin twice in one week. If two onsite were needed then the one in Dublin should have been last Saturday and have a regional onsite on the 9th instead

I think it's ridiculous that we were given such short notice that the onsite will be in UCD. I don't understand why it can't be in our regional onsite locations and why the Irish exam can't be in our regional locations too.
For the fees we are paying, you would expect a more professional service.

I'm unable to organise childcare for 3 smallies at such short notice I'm travelling from Kerry which is a substantial journey I feel it is too short notice and is grosdly unfair to the limerick and cork cohorts

It would be really appreciated if Hibernia could postpone this onsite for a variety of reasons!
1) We were not informed about this onsite being in Dublin until this week. The college expects us to travel to Dublin, not once but twice in the space of four days. I personally am paying over 100euro for accommodation the night before the exam - not to mind travel. There is no possible way to travel up the morning of the onsite given the early start.
It is also hard to justify the fact the the September Cohort had this particular micro teaching onsite in their regional area!
2) This particular April Cohort are already dealing with an additional workload in comparison to other cohorts - our Ped 2 assignment is significantly larger than previous assignments. On top of all of this our Nua Gaeilge exam is also thrown on top of this workload. This is despite the fact that the September Cohort completed this exam in August - 1 year after starting the course in comparison to our nine months. September also completed this exam following the Gaeltacht - where they had two weeks to solely focus on this exam.
Given our additional workload - it seems grossly unfair to request April 17 to attend an onsite in Dublin at such short notice and given the expense to all groups outside of the Dublin area.
