After the conference day for Religion in UCD, many people were annoyed and disappointed at the productivity of it after travelling from all over the country to be at UCD. This is a petition to cease having conference days and only have regional onsites in the future.
The administration has acknowledged the volume of signatures and requested a formal meeting to discuss alternatives to conference days. I am currently drafting a briefing document that outlines the logistical inefficiencies of the current system alongside our proposed shift to regional onsites.

Onsites are far better and are not as costly as having to travel to Dublin, especially for students travelling from Cork/ Kerry and Donegal.

Had to be up at half past 5 to get to Dublin. Was already exhausted by 1pm and even more so after a not so stimulating conference! Not fair to have to travel such a distance, right before the Irish college 2 weeks also. Really could have been delivered over a webinar or regional. Withered from this course.

Feel the conference days don't work. Regional onsites are much more productive.

Both the lesson plan section and Ann Brackens lecture where appalling. Total unprofessionalism shown by Ann. Are we really going to teach children about creationism when the pope himself believes in the Big Bang? So much for peer reviewed, scientific pedagogical methodologies.

It was put to us that the aim of the conference days was to communicate and interact with our peers. Instead we were herded into a room, read lectures off slides and were discouraged very strongly from contributing to the topic. This is unacceptable and further to that, I would rather never have any interaction with Ann (Grow in love) ever again.
Many of us travelled hours and hours and were forced to spend money that we don't have on accommodation to ensure we attended this conference day.

The level of unprofessionalism show by the grow in love "lecturer" was appalling! She spent the whole time dismissing opinions and questions, and read ever single word from notes on the table. No eye contact or teacher - learner communication whatsoever. Paying the amount of money we do, at the very least we should be treated with the appropriate respect. A complete waste of a long and expensive journey by students who are trying to balance college, work, family and money.

I agree completly. Especially with the second lecturer seeming to have her own agenda. The way in which she refused to answer questions and her reaction to someone asking about teaching about contraceptive was pathetic at best

Noel and Matt both delivered great lectures that so many of us found helpful, but unfortunately the unprofessionalism of Ann had already infuriated many students and consequently many students left disheartened before the last lectures which was not fair on Cora and Matt who had put in the time and effort to travel and make presentations. I also feel that Kate's lecture was somewhat sabotaged by Ann interupting from the back of the lecture theatre to answer a question that she previously refused to answer in her own lecture. All round disheartening and infuriating from a college that seems to take so much and give so little. Demanding the utmost from all of its students especially when representing the college on placement, it's just a pity they don't demand the same standards from all of their staff.
