Dear students,

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, some students at the University of Glasgow have decided to create a petition to close the university temporarily.

Dear principal,

Most of the students feel like they are not safe at the university due to the increasing numbers of people catching COVID-19. We, the students, collectively agreed that an action plan should be made to avoid this issue, like closing the university for a period of time. Many universities, schools and daycares in the UK and worldwide have closed down their doors due to this virus. Additionally, all schools and universities in the United Arab Emirates have been closed for a month due to the virus. We should learn from them and do the same. The UAE government has implemented a system of “online lectures” at the normal time of the lectures. They are lectures where the students should sign in, take their attendance and watch the lecture. Additionally, the software developed shows which students opened the lecture and when they left the lecture so no attendance problems could occur.

We the students believe that we have a say when it comes to our health and we feel like we are not protected. If one or two people catch the virus at the university, it will spread faster than we can blink our eyes
