I’ve started this petition for our local trader Pat Mears . Pat has been a trader of the open market since he was 15 years old . Now at 76 years old the market council are taking his liscense away and taking his stall off him . Many of you know pat has always been there . He has been asked to leave for violating parking . He has been parking in the loading bay and now has been given his eviction notice . I think this is outrageous !! He has recently undergone 2 knee operations which has caused him pain and diferculty walking for years . He also has been mugged when parking across the street at the level . I can see why pat chose to park in the loading bay at the market . This is a real upset to see Mears going from the open market as they have been there for so long .if we all stand together and sign this petition and try and get Pat Mears back trading at the open market again. LET PAT STAY !!!

The fight for Pat is exhausting but we keep moving forward. We are almost at one thousand names and we need that final push to ensure the council cannot ignore us any longer.

Reaching this threshold of signatures will finally force the council to acknowledge how much Pat means to our community. I am exhausted by their stubbornness but your persistence pulls me forward. Please find one person today who can add their name to this fight.

This is a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, and not a walnut that needed cracking in the first place. If Pat is disabled to the extent that at his age he needs to park close to his business, then the market should accommodate his exceptional need.
This is a disgrace I’ve been shopping at the market since I moved here in 1990 he helps in every way although he’s elderly himself I no rules ar rules but now ur taking away his independence an making him rely on the state he will b lonely an miss the banter too shameful
A total over reaction by Brighton Council. By all means fine him for the parking violation, but to take away a mans livelihood, business and security is completely ridiculous. The local community will miss him and his business greatly.
We need to fight for small family traders and market produce over the big supermarkets. Understand that loading bays are for all but some discussion and consideration in place of faceless beaurocracy would have been more a more acceptable solution here surely
I’ve known Pat years he is an asset to the market for both the elderly and young . He must be allowed to stay as a lot of people rely on him being there as they can’t and won’t use anywhere else he is always helpful and go that extra mile to get u what u want .
Given Mr Mears's age and lack of mobility, added to his being a part of the market for so long, it beggars belief that management are incapable of creating a solution that assists Mr Mears, and keeps the loading bays clear.
Shouldn't they be encouraging rather than penalising small businesses? If Mears have to go they can close the whole thing down.

Is it really only over this? Seems like a silly thing if it is. Mears is a bit of an institution, and really good value fruit and veg. I would hope that if it is only over parking the Open Market would help find a solution rather then have Pat leave.
