Opposition to Rezoning Request for AirBnB in Fieldstone at the Crossing
Please sign this petition if you are a resident of Fieldstone at the Crossing subdivision in West Lafayette, Indiana, and you are OPPOSED to allowing a rezoning request for a property on Thorny Lane, which would allow it to operate as an AirBnB or other short-term rental (aka "transient guest house") in our neighborhood. We are worried that this property getting approval would open the door to other properties in our community being purchased with the intent of turning them into AirBnbs.

The momentum behind this petition is undeniable and the developers trying to intrude on our neighborhood are clearly nervous. We have made it impossible for them to ignore the fact that Fieldstone residents will not stand for these ghost hotels ruining our community.

I am opposed to the rezoning request as we have already had issues with parties and excessive late night noise from these houses. AirBnB guests will not care for the neighborhood or respecting the rules of the HOA or respecting their neighbors as they are not invested in the neighborhood.
This is not a neighborhood for any form of rental. The rentals already in the neighborhood are not well kept and have tenants that are extremely subpar in regards to noise and property upkeep.
I live on Thorny Lane and already have issues with renters. I feel that it is inappropriate to allow properties that offer very short term leases in a neighborhood that is within one mile of schools. Properties that offer these types of leases will cost individuals and families thousands of dollars in lowered property values.
This neighborhood was a once small family friendly neighborhood. I live on shale crescent Dr, and recently within this year it has turned to be a party place where cars are going over 40 miles an hour. Loud music littering, and motorcycles racing around the neighborhood. This has raised the safety concern for my two daughters. They can’t play outside or sleep at night. My girls used to walk on the side walks with what’s used to be clean streets to joe finding beer bottles on the floor. Random people are now walking around shirtless and screaming on broad daylight. It has me scared to have m daughters play outside.
I strongly oppose allowing AirBnB’s in this neighborhood. Rentals where occupants go throw a screening process and owner occupier homes should be the only ones allowed.

My husband (Nathan Morris) forgot to include our address. We are both opposed to the rezoning and reside at 1097 Thorny Lane, lot 196.
