we just got the word that the plans for the apartment complex were officially rejected by the city. im honestly shocked but so happy that we held our ground and kept this from happening. keep an eye on the property just in case but for now we won.

By signing of this petition, I hereby convey my OBJECTION to the City of Star Planning and Zoning Department to the Moon Valley Limited Partnership plans for a new 6 building, 36 unit apartment community to be built on the vacant property at 11735 W State St. in Star, Idaho immediately west of the NHS Labs Building.

im spending my afternoons mapping out the traffic concerns everyone mentioned here because the current plans just dont account for the congestion we already deal with on state st. gathering all these signatures is helping me show the planning department that this isnt just a small group of people but a whole neighborhood worried about our future.

I am strongly opposed to the proposed 36 unit apartment complex being proposed adjacent/in to the Pinewood Lakes sub-division. Commercial use would serve the Star community far better for this property at 11735 W. State St. in Star.
How about finishing the proposed junior high, build a high school finally, and work harder to attract more business and jobs to this area before even considering affordable housing. There are so many things that need to happen in Star first.
Very poor location safety wise for cars getting in and out of the housing units. Schools are already in portables - new children would make that issue worse. There is no public transportation out here - poor site for low income- very few jobs in Star.
Apartments on a state highway, next to businesses, bad idea!!! We really need commercial property to stay and build some services in Star so we don't keep spending our money for services out of our area because we can't find what we need in Star. No, NO, NO!!! We object!!!
If this apartment complex is built the value of the homes in Pinewood Lakes, including my home, will go down. I would not have purchased a home in Pinewood Lakes if I had known the property zoned commercial would have been changed to residential, especially government-subsidized residential.
This is the last thing my small town needs. There aren't job opportunities to sustain this plan.

There are other very suitable locations in Star for a complex like this, on State St. With only two lanes for traffic, no left turn refuge, no sidewalks, this is about one of the most unsafe locations I can think of.
