Hello South Norwood!
You've probably heard about Thameslink, it's the DfT's program that promises to further open up transport options in South London, making it faster and easier than ever before to get to central London.
The big question that's being asked and discussed at the moment is; which stations in South London should the Thameslink service stop at?
We believe that Norwood Junction is an ideal station, for a number of reasons:
- It will cut down commuting time - the Thamelink service would mean traveling from Norwood Junction to Kings Cross would take around just 15 minutes – that's a faster time to get to work, from work, and to all the fun that the big city has to offer!
- It will help South Norwood regenerate quicker – Increased accessibility will attract new residents to the area and in turn, attract more quality businesses to the area.
- Increased demand requires increased supply - Norwood Junction station is a busy station, a c20% YoY increase in traffic through the station demonstrates the increasing popularity of the area for commuters which is only set to continue.
- We're ready and waiting - There is a platform at Norwood Junction which is currently unused other than for trains passing through, meaning no extra platform or train line would need to be built for us to accommodate the Thameslink service.

Watching these numbers climb reminds me how much my neighbors rely on this commute every single day. If we hit five hundred signatures today we will have the concrete proof needed to force a real conversation with the transit planners.

Watching this list grow reminds me how many of my neighbors are tired of long, slow commutes and want better connections for our area. We are nearly at our first milestone and I need you to help us reach it by sending this link to just three people who use the station every morning.

This would not only be good for local people, but would help all those coming from Brighton, Gatwick and other Thameslink stations who need to continue to stations on the Crystal Palace and Sutton lines. They currently have to change twice.
South Norwood residents would benefit hugely from Thameslink — increase commute options for work, help regenerate Portland Road area, encourage businesses to set up here, bring the area into parity with adjacent areas for transport.
Not only does this benefit South Norwood but also West Croydon, allowing passengers to change onto that line without relying on the over-subscribed Tramlink. It would also ease congestion at London Bridge as less passengers will need to change platforms to continue their journey.
A service straight to Kings Cross would also significantly improve overcrowding on the Northern Line. Currently the only way there is a train to London Bridge and then cramming onto the tube. I definitely support a Norwood Junction stop.
This would reduce my daily commute to West London from 1hr20 minutes to less than 45 minutes. Currently I get 3 trains and a bus - this change would mean 1 train and 1 tube. Please consider it - seriously!
I fully support the idea of Thameslink service at Norwood Junction station.
The sooner the better; trains are crazy in the morning!

This would makes so much sense. On a daily basis, I watch a King's Cross train go through and just wish it would stop. But it's not just the northern end it helps. Direct fast trains through to Gatwick too!
