Key business leaders and politicians have today joined together to make an impassioned plea for better rail services between Lincoln and London.
They have penned a joint letter urging the three companies bidding to run the East Coast Main Line – between the capital and Edinburgh – to include more direct services to Lincoln.
The letter claims Lincoln's impressive growth in the last decade has not been reflected in the rail services it receives.

I honestly cannot believe how fast this is moving and honestly it feels like people are finally noticing how ridiculous the commute is right now. It is wild to see everyone coming together like this because honestly I was just sitting here frustrated and typing this up out of pure annoyance.

This is essential for our city, it's people and to ensure prosperity as well helping the environment
In the 70s we had more direct trains than we do now, and we need them more than ever. Come on train operators, there is a niche market here.
This matters to everyone in Lincoln. A better rail service to and from London will benefit businesses, and thriving businesses bring employment.
Would also be good if East Midlands put on more than one carriage on the Lincoln-Newark trains for non-direct London services & installed more than 2 ticket collection machines at Lincoln station (amazingly the latter deficiency was ignored in the recent station revamp).
We avoid going down to London as the cost for us as a family is too high on the train and also because we would have to travel to Newark to get a straight thru train service as the service from Lincoln is rubbish!
It is IMPerative and long overdue for direct trains from Lincoln to London to be reinstated - the provision of rail services for this city have gone backwards instead of forwards :-(
Extremely useful to have for Lincoln, more jobs and more tourists.

Lots more trains to Lincoln please - to arrive before 9am for people to get to work there and for lots of lovely trips to visit our wonderful Cathedral and Castle - on Sundays too!
