We, the undersigned, object to the Far North District Council’s SNA (Significant Natural Areas) plans in our area. It breaches our rights as Tangata Whenua guaranteed in He Wakaputanga and Te Tīriti o Waitangi. We reject our lands being zoned SNA and demand the government (as Te Tīriti o Waitangi partner) act to withdraw our lands from the Far North District Councils plan.

We support other affected landowners to stop the SNA plans over their lands.

Seeing 500 people stand behind this feels surreal and I truly never imagined so many would join in. This momentum belongs entirely to you because you were the ones who saw the importance of protecting our lands.

Seeing this grow has been completely overwhelming and I am truly humbled by how many of you feel the same way about our land. This entire momentum belongs to you because I never imagined so many people would join me in this effort.

A hundred people have put their names to this now. I am genuinely stunned that so many of you care about this issue because I really thought I was just shouting into the void alone.

Please press pause on this policy. There needs to be consultation with land owners about SNA’s on private land, not just a mail drop saying this is happening!

My native bush is mine because I purchased it not the council. We have our Kiwi population monitored all the time. What will happen to them?

Whilst I may not be Tangata Whenua, I am very concerned that my right to property ownership is being threatened by this policy, and I stand with those who are Tangata Whenua to oppose this plan.

I am against The SNA and lack of consultation. This is taking away the rights of landowners who are the kitaiaki of their land. Council need to put some time effort and money into caring for their own land which is full of invasive species and leave those of us who have been putting in the effort to care for and protect our properties alone.

Partnership, protection and participation. Im pretty sure that none of these principles were taken into consideration as Mana whenua have still not been consulted.

We the Tangata whenua have been kaitiaki our whenua above all that of the system that has a track record of stealing land and devastating it's for gain of money. For this reason and many other concerns I do not support SNA under any Government Department.
