The New Zealand government has given a marine permit under this category of activity as described above to a Oil Company of Norway by the name of Statoil.
We absolutely object & oppose Te Reinga being subjected to the activity of Deep Sea Oil Mining & Exploration.
Te Reinga is known historically and Nationally including Internationally as being a place of great importance and holds spiritual connection to Maori as Te Ara Wairua - A Spiritual Pathway which is Ancestral and Immemorial.
We object & oppose also on the grounds of concerns of detrimental affect and effect for and on the Environment both below and above the sea.

Te Ara Wairua is our holy place now we wouldn't go mess with Jerusalem so dont go mess with Te Ara Wairua - RESPECT!
I absolutely oppose to the acivity of Deep Sea Oil Mining & Exploration. Our heritage is more important than money....Go away Statoil you are not welcome here. As for our NZ government who do you represent offshore companys or the people of Aotearoa????
Go do some drilling in the Ministers back yard, leave Te Reinga alone, in fact LEAVE our waters all together.
Every Maori I know is opposed to deep sea drilling in the Te Reinga Basin. It is our most sacred place and I opposed this with all my being. Leave all of our waters alone.
We strongly object and oppose anything and everything that happens on and around Te Rerenga Wairua as this is the most scared place in the world to all of Maoridom. We strongly object and oppose to our spiritual areas being subjected to the activity of Deep Sea Drilling and Exploration.
Te Reinga is tapu - a sacred place. Have some respect and don't ruin it!

Inshore and deep sea mining are part of the sea/landscape of Aotearoa. NZ Government decisions and support allow it to happen. It's not the companies - it's our government that provide the permits. Remember that if and when you vote (or not).
