I noticed the counter creeping up toward that 250 mark and it is honestly wild how fast this is moving since we found out about the meeting. If we hit this target before we walk into that room they really cannot pretend we are not paying attention to what happens at Wyckoff and Hart. Please blast this link everywhere you can because I am honestly stressed thinking about these plans getting pushed through without us knowing.

I have been hearing from so many neighbors who are just as frustrated about the lack of communication on this plan and honestly it feels like they are trying to rush this past us before anyone can even blink. Trying to get some real answers from the office about why this specific spot was chosen is proving to be way harder than it should be but I am not stopping until someone actually listens.

This neighborhood has enough shelters why are we adding more? There’s a men’s shelter on porter between Johnson and flushing. A family shelter on flushing and Wyckoff. Bushwick should not be imposed with another one especially at wyckoff and hart where there is a lot of families with children.

This shelter has been located in our street without the input of the residents. We have already two shelters in a radius of six blocks. That’s is not a fair share. We have not been informed of the environmental impact of the shelter in our community.

I spend a lot of time at Maria Hernandez Park with my 2 kids, and the amount of homeless persons there is already very high, and sometimes problematic, a new shelter in the area doesn't seem the best solution to this problem.

With eleven (11) shelters currently in operation, Bushwick already has its fair share of homeless shelters. Build the shelter in Williamsburg (4 shelters) or Greenpoint (3 shelters) instead. 97 Wyckoff Ave. has a very high volume of pedestrian traffic. This is not a safe location to be used as a shelter for 80 homeless single men.

Something that so intimately affects our community cannot be allowed to happen like it is right now, under cover of boarded up windows and with the sheer brute force of politicians who are aware how their decisions do not affect them personally, or how they may even benefit from making decisions without seeking input from their constituents.

No need for a men’s shelter in our neighborhood that is located within close proximity of an elementary PS 123 and middle school IS162. . Our students safety comes first.
