On Tuesday, September 12, 2017 the Wynne City Council voted unanimously in approval of 511 E. Poplar continuing to exist as a multi-family establishment for the purposes of a Homeless Shelter in a R1 zone, as it had previously been grandfathered in as such. Neighbors of said property are challenging this ruling at the next City Council meeting scheduled for October 10 at 6 p.m.

While we understand that this establishment has been and currently remains to be a detriment to the neighborhood, the establishment of Mercy House (Shelter) at this location will be a marked improvement to the property.

Strict rules and regulations will be in place such as: curfew, quiet hours, zero drug, alcohol, and weapon tolerance on site, no loitering, designated boundaries, etc. Guests will be under constant supervision during all operating hours.

We firmly believe this shelter will be a positive addition to the neighborhood as well as the city of Wynne. In addition to the rules and regulations, it is our very intention to establish relationships. A noticeable shift occurs when we move from stereotype to relationship, from label to human being; when we begin to understand the people in need are someone's mother/father, brother/sister, son/daughter, we are then able to treat them as such.

Stand with us as we seek not only to improve the city of Wynne but more importantly the lives of those within the city. Everyonedeserves a safe place to lay their head at night.

Everyone deserves shelter from extreme heat and cold. This is a great movement forward to help show God's grace to others in need.

I truly believe this would be great for our community. I'm a foster parent and this would/could help bio-parents to get back on there feet to get there children back. We as Christians should do our part to help those in need.

The unknown is usually scary. Imagine how scary it must be to be homeless. This is a huge need in our community!

I stand with Mercy House. This initiative is critical for our fellow human beings in need in our community. This facility will be an improvement to the building and fulfill a need in Wynne.

Although I do believe Wynne needs to accododate thier homeless community. I do not believe this location will be of benifit to them or to thier surrounding neighborhood. There is a day school two blocks away and the high school is less than i mile away. This building should be destroyed.
