No Supportive Housing w/ a Wet Facility on WFN Lands in Westbank
On December 14, 2020 a meeting was held between BC Housing and WFN in regards to a proposed supportive housing project on Cougar including a wet facility for the homeless. This proposal is a great concern to our communities as to the many safety questions and the reason why this specific area was selected as there are no facilities nearby ie shopping, public transit, medical, pharmacies etc. were not addressed.
WFN received numerous letters from people opposing this and has deferred a decision regarding this project to the spring of 2021. Once again, this is NOT a done deal and the more voices in our community and adjacent communities that speak against this facility proposed on 3235 Cougar Rd, Westbank on WFN lands, the better chance we have for the project to be denied.
Thanks you to all whom sent in an email but lets keep communication up and present this petition to them.
This location is not well though out as there is a lack of fundamental requirements of the proposed residents including lack of public transit, lack of amenities including grocery stores, pharmacies, medical facilities, etc. It is also close to a school, senior complexes and other residents whom will undoubtable be subject to additional crime, discarded needles, etc.
For the well being of our community and safety of the residents living on WFN lands PLEASE sign this petition which will be presented to the WFN in the spring before a final decision is made.
PLEASE join in a united effort to stop this project from going forward.
