No Generative AI At Berklee- Disband Bots, Beats and Bytes
AI models like Chat GPT that are being promoted by the Berklee Songwriting Department steal the art of 10's of 1000's of artists and rot the essence of the industry and have devastating consequences on the environment all to create facsimiles of real human art. There is no place for generative AI at art school- we call to disband "Bots, Beats and Bytes and any other promotion of generative AI at Berklee.

Berklee should be a place that protects artists, champions human expression, fosters creative development and teaches ethical innovation—not one that accelerates technologies built on appropriation, exploitation, and the replacement of authentic creativity.
i am a boston conservatory at Berklee student. the fact that Berklee is encouraging the use of music AI in this way is abhorrent. as students we are ashamed that our school would waste resources on a class that teaches it. i can't believe this is even a question.
The only reason AI is getting pushed down our throats at Berklee is our president and ben camp being way too connected to the tech industry that would directly profit from a whole school using Ai. Its gross and destroys the values that I came to berklee for
I am a Berklee alumna and am concerned about the future of our industry due to AI generative music platforms. Berklee is the flagship school carrying on the traditions of nurturing human expression, I am hoping they will rethink this curriculum.
Songwriter, cellist, composer here—let's do everything in our power to keep human beings as the sole creators of art. Encouraging the use of generative AI is completely against what any music school with a conscience should be doing right now.
What is beautiful about music is that it's human, and we have to honour and preserve that. Art lives thanks to the evolution of hundreds of years of human history and controlling an artificial intelligence to do as you want doesn't make you an artist, it just makes you dependent by a machine to express yourself, and in my opinion there's nothing more sad than this.
I enjoy making music, and I don't want this pleasure taken away from me to be marketed and turned into a conformity.

I am a current Berklee student and very concerned about this issue, not only for my remaining time at this school but for future generations of students and the legacy of Berklee, as well as how AI presence at Berklee may tarnish my standing as an alum.
