Due to the strike action that occured throughout the semester, students at the University of Pretoria should be shown leniency with regards to their exam entrance requirements. All students should be given entrance regardless of their semester mark and only the exam mark should be considered for the final grade

Updates

November 9, 2016

The disruptions throughout this semester have created an unusual academic burden for all of us. I am currently reaching out to faculty representatives to ensure they understand the necessity of adjusting entrance requirements to account for these circumstances.

The traction this petition has gained demonstrates that the current academic constraints are a shared concern among many students. This momentum encourages me to continue pressing for a more equitable approach to our final assessments.

Strikes seriously affected progress and self study/ blended learning doesn't work for everyone. Even lowering entrances would help. It's a lot of money to repeat a course and for half of the semester we've been paying to teach ourselves only to fail anyway.

Due to the harsh circumstances, many might not have been able to study in a safe environment leading to poor performance.
