To Whom It May Concern at Unisa,

Unisa Students are being faced with a critical issue at the moment. This is holding us back from furthering our studies and also from registering for other modules in the year 2016. We have received a message that stated: "Dear Unisa Student. CHE1502 exam to be rewritten in Jan/Feb 2016 due to the early release of the paper and memorandum. More details to be communicated in 2016".

Our Studies are at Risk. This is unacceptable as CHE1502 is a prerequisite to other Modules which means this will put us in a Backlog with our Studies by adding another year or so. This is also putting our jobs on the line, as many of our employers are paying for our Studies and they are not lenient when it comes to giving us off to re-write exams including extra Study Leave. We had no knowledge of the early release of the paper and memo. Please do not hold us Responsible. Why should the students be prejudiced due to the laxity of Unisa?!.

We want what is best for us as we studied hard for the exam.

We think that the Rewriting of the exam is not a solution because it tantamounts to be unconstitutional We should rather be passed on our year mark or another assignment should be given to us.

Regards,

Devastated CHE1502 Students.

December 28, 2015

I have spent my week reading through the messages you sent about work conflicts and the fear of falling behind on our degrees. It is clear that we are all being forced to pay for a mistake that was not ours. We are currently figuring out the next steps to get the attention of the administration before this becomes our reality.

Seeing the count climb so quickly confirms that I am not alone in this anxiety. Looking at your messages reminds me that our futures are tied together and we deserve better than this delay.

This matter has not just caused an inconvenience, it has caused us our future...did the University management even sit and think about how the students will be affected by their decision especially for the fact that section B only counted 40 marks really??? we have to study the whole flippin material because of just 40 marks??? They are taking the easy way out and not once did they thinking how this would affect us the student and couldn't careless actually I'm so disappointed, I never thought a University of such calibre would make such a decision; I really thought they were better than that...I'm actually disgusted

I am absolutely livid about this. And there is no information at all for us about the new date. Why should I have to suffer due to the negligence of someone else when I'd put in so much effort.

This is too unfortunate, and now my bursary application process has to be distributed becuase i'm missing results, and on top of that i have to ask for additional days off now to go and rewrite this exam when i did not even see the memo... Who's fault is is it.... I'm going to put this on hellopeter as well!

Rewriting this exam is completely unacceptable and the fact that Prof Summers still holds her position at Unisa is even more absurd.

I've been waiting for communication from Unisa since last year October. I don't know whether I'm in or not but registration is opened already.

Please consider only marking section A as opposed to a rewrite.
