As the students of the University of Pretoria we reject e-learning and demand that the University stop assessing students by ways of online assessments and tests. UP has announced a complete shutdown and instituted classes via the internet, but has failed to address access for the majority of students. We view this approach as unfair and discriminatory, towards students who cannot effectively engage in this mode of learning which will ultimately have detrimental effects towards their academics. To add the University has failed to extensively accommodate those students who do not have access to electronic devices like smartphones and laptops in order to participate in these online academic assessments. It is pivotal to note that even though the university has arranged WiFi hot spots, management has again failed to take into account that students are expected to write semester tests in public spaces where the environment is not conducive for learning and studying. We urge the university management to stop these discriminatory practices that seek to exclude and further perpetuate the marginalization of previously disadvantaged students and take into account the academic needs of all students.

The administration at the University of Pretoria is finally starting to feel the heat from the thousands of us who refuse to be ignored. They thought they could force this discriminatory system on us without a fight but they were dead wrong.

This is university,not high school where they tell you what 'stationery' you will need for the year. TUKS never told us that in order to pass we would need laptops and WI-FI access and money for data!!!!!!! Some of us depend on the library and facilities on campus,yet those very same things have been closed.
I cannot afford this e-learning since where I stay we do not have WiFi, I don't have laptop and my phone has a little screen cannot complete my tests nor assignments
This is system is discriminatory in nature, it favors the haves and denies the 'have nots' access to education. If the University provided data and laptops to those who don't have, that would make sense and be very helpful. It would show their commitment to equal opportunities in education
University should prioritize effective, inclusive ways of learning. These Ivory towers continue to systematically exclude the poor.
Am struggling so hard to get internet connection where am staying,I only used my roommate's phone and he sometimes get furious saying am wasting his data,I don't have smartphone or laptop.

With the manner in which the university of pretoria has been holding itself, disregarding the plight of the poor. Disregarding the daily struggle faced by students on a daily basis is disgusting.

It is not feasible to continue with e-learning. The data costs are prohibitive and not everyone has access to Tshwane free WiFi or Alwayson
