No thank you Walmart. I live out from town to avoid the traffic you create. I would be in favor of that YMCA that was promised a few years back on the corner of 98 and 589.
Inadequate traffic infrastructure. Undermines protective existing zoning already in place. SAMs, Walmart, target, and Walmart super enter Columbia are enough big box retail. This area is residential and small business friendly. This is NOT a need for "access" to volume shopping.
I welcome additional retail locations within our county but in the appropriate location. To build such a place as Walmart right outside of a major neighborhood will lower property values by adding to unwanted traffic in the area in addition to lighting, waste products, etc.
I am opposed to changing the zoning for large Big box development. We currently have a grocery store,pharmacy & gas stations in the immediate area with the current Walmart 3 miles away. There is no need for this & it will only add extreme congestion & noise & light pollution. Adamantly NO to this addition.
This will cause a severe safety hazard with trucks coming and going 24-7 as it will be a distribution center and presently 98 cannot handle the traffic it has. Lamar County will be liabile for any injuries or deaths due to this being built.
No Walmart
NO to Walmart or any other big box retailer next to Canebrake. Protect small businesses!!

I would respectfully request that the planning commission and board of supervisors keep the zoning as it is for the C-98/589 Corridor. The current zoning is very appropriate for the proximity to residential subdivisions.
