Walmart is closing 269 of their stores this year. They are closing 6 of their stores in MS in 2016. Why should we allow a business to build in our area that is already closing businesses in this state and others. Empty commercial real estate is a problem for everyone. Look at what is happening with the old KMart building on Hwy 98. Large empty parking lot and wasted real estate. Look at what is happening with Turtle Creek mall (no where near the same class of stores that were there originally). Check our "The Arbor" then and now (a far cry from the old glory days). Our area is flooding the market with new commercial real estate and not using what already exist successfully. We need a board and a city council that makes better decisions about zoning. Decisions based on data and community input rather than, we need more money so let's approve this for a quick fix.
