To: Lindenhurst School Board of Lindenhurst, NY.
We, the undersigned, students of Lindenhurst High School, oppose the current dress for graduation ceremonies given for our senior classes. We deem this dress - males in green, females in white - not unified.
Students who attend Lindenhurst High School, male or female, do so together. We all go through the same schooling and have to meet the same set of requirements to earn that walk on graduation day. Why can\'t we be unified until the end
We\'re calling for a change. One we hope will take place for the Class of 2009 and on. We want all students, male and female, to wear green gowns on graduation day.
Please answer our call! We want to go green!
I have been hearing from so many classmates who feel just as frustrated as I do that our ceremony robes still force us into these outdated color roles. We are currently gathering more perspectives from students who want to see a unified look for our final walk across that stage. This is about more than just fabric colors because it represents how we should be recognized together after four years of hard work.

Seeing so many of you agree that we deserve to walk across that stage as one united class is truly overwhelming. My heart is full knowing that we are finally challenging these outdated traditions together.

Its 2009 not 1950. Let us all wear the same color. It looks way better in photos anyway.

Seriously? Just let us all wear green. Why does it even matter what gender wears what color when we all did the same work to graduate.
