As a group of parents want to stand against changes in uniform and implement our own.
From September 2022,all students will be expected to wear leather type shoes. For years it has been plain black shoes which could include trainers. The school claim it is unhealthy for the students feet to wear trainers every day. They have also stated that a pair of leather shoes can cost as little as £30. Cheap shoes are worse for feet than trainers. They also won't be durable.
Any student who wears a skirt has to wear black tights. A few days of the year tights become optional but only when permission is given. Daily wearing of tights is unhealthy, increasing the risk of fungal infections, corns and ingrowing hair.
Students are not allowed tailored shorts. Some parents have emailed in to ask about this, each were told school don't want to add the expense. Replies were sent and nothing done. Research has shown that 3 pairs of tailored shorts costs the same as one uniform school skirt.
To summarise what we are petitioning for:
Abolish the new rule regarding footwear due to start in September 2022.
Make tights and tailored shorts optional all year round.
