I logged on this morning to find five hundred signatures on this page and I am honestly at a loss for words. This movement belongs entirely to the people of this town who believe in keeping our park accessible.

I was brought up in wonderful Millstreet, left in 1985. I can’t believe that this barbaric “sport” is still happening but to think that the good people of my beloved hometown can’t use THEIR, public amenity for weeks just beggars belief! Please stop!
Keep the park open, it’s the bleakest darkest time of the year and the park provides a safe environment for walkers, runners, kids playing ball on the pitches etc. 100 plus people using it daily during the week and many more at weekends, to exclude all these people for weeks is not acceptable. Dave.
Keep the park open to our community, so sad to see the gates chained yesterday morning and the park desolate. It’s normally such a central part of the community for young and old. Our footpaths and roads aren’t great for folks to exercise on.
Apart from the abject cruelty of leaving these sentient creatures shivering overnight in pens in freezing conditions only to face certain death in terrifying circumstances , the park is a *much used* and *much needed* amenity for all those who live in Millstreet and nearby
The town park is for the people of the town, not to be closed for a month to facilitate a small minority. No other club who uses the town park would be allowed to close it for such a long period
Stop this abuse!
Why would intelligent people want to cause such distress and cruelty to harmless ones for no reason other than sport. Mustn’t be intelligent…

This is a disgrace in 2021 that such an activity as hare coursing still takes place. Add to that the closure of a public amenity which in these times are needed more than ever for the mental and physical health of a local community. A country wide ban on hare coursing is well and truly overdue!
