We, the undersigned, call upon the County of San Mateo and the City of Menlo Park to re-open Flood Park.

Famous for its large native Oak and Bay trees, Flood Park is a 21-acre retreat located in the midst of urban development.  Flood Park has always been a community center, where people from diverse surrounding neighborhoods played, celebrated and visited.  Prior to its closure, it served thousands of people weekly and was an anchor of our neighborhoods.  As a boarded-up park it will become a magnet for crime, an eyesore, and a detriment to property values and the community.

Flood Park is currently closed due to pipeline repairs by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.  However, the County of San Mateo Parks Commission has recommended its indefinite closure as a cost-saving measure.

Please sign this petition if you support the reopening of Flood Park!  These signatures may be presented to government officials and posted on this organization's website.

Menlo Park is supposed to be the "Tree City" - meaning city officials are pro-environment, pro-conservation, and do-all-in-their-power to be of and serve the people, and that includes protecting trees. Consider alternatives and they exist to cutting trees. Like humans, trees are living organisms.

STOP closing public spaces because of budget excuses. Flood Park is a neighborhood staple.

Went there every weekend growing up. It makes me sad to see it sitting empty. DO SOMETHING.

Just fix what needs fixing and let us back in. Simple as that.

PLEASE re-open Flood Park!! We have so few green spaces left as it is and this one is special to so many families.

My kids grew up at this park. Leaving it closed is a total joke honestly. Open it back up already.
