Location of Traffic Safety concern (please be specific): Meriam Street from Hayes Avenue to Adams Street.

What concerns do you have with this location? Drivers use Meriam Street as a means to avoid traffic congestion along Mass Avenue. As 
a result, there are a large volume of cars utilizing the road. Cars and trucks exceed the speed limit regularly and over the last few years there have been several accidents at the corner of Meriam/Hayes Ave. The houses on Meriam Street are home to many school aged and younger children
 as well as active retirees and dog owners who regularly walk in the neighborhood. In addition, many children and families use Meriam Street to walk to Fiske and Diamond Schools. Unlike the streets that feed onto Meriam, there are NO sidewalks on Meriam Street so PEDESTRIANS MUST WALK ON THE ROAD with cars and trucks that are often driving at unsafe speeds.

What solutions do you feel would address your concerns? Traffic calming measures are necessary for the safety of Meriam St. residents and drivers.

• Installation of speed humps along Meriam St - from the intersection of Meriam/York to Adams St – similar to the ones installed on Shade Street.
• If speed humps are not possible then change the 2-way stop sign at Hayes Ave/Meriam St to a 4-way stop.
