After hearing of numerous near miss situations and being involved in one myself recently, I have taken it upon myself to campaign for a safer campus.
We all know that there are times when everyone needs to make an odd trip onto campus to collect the kids in an emergency situation however it is the same faces parking up day in day out on the campus to collect their kids. The cars block the road and make it difficult for taxis to collect special needs children.
The situation is out of control at afternoon pick up and is becoming increasingly dangerous for pedestrians to walk to collect children from school.
This online petition accompanies my paper version to highlight to the schools that there is a concern for safety and that a barrier system is needed now.

There is a huge risk undertaken by everyone that tries to cross the main road outside the campus everyday. Cars come round the corner far too fast and often turning into the road when children are crossing. They usually don't bother to indicate. Our campus needs to be safe for all and that means a huge reduction of traffic on the site.
There are plans to extend the school which is not good news. However this is still in consultation stage and there is time for parents and the community to oppose the plans. If the plans for a barrier go ahead then my next stage is to petition for the introduction of a park and ride shuttle bus service which would reduce the traffic around the school roads. I have serious concerns about the safety of the children and I will campaign until I feel the schools have significantly improved current safety levels. Thanks for all of your support
It is not only the campus that needs to be made safer but all of Wharf Road/Manor Road area. Speed bumps? One way traffic? Moving the bus stop for the Colet? There isn't an easy solution but something needs to be done. Presumably this will only get worse too if the schools are extended.
Too many inconsiderate, impatient drivers on the campus, if they can't drive on, they block the entrance and bus bay!!! making it extremely dangerous to cross the road I totally support this campaign .
Not sure what the solution is but happy to support any safety measures. Speed bumps on Wharf Road? More staggered school times? Permanent barriers at campus entrance?

The campus is already so busy, at pick-up time in particular. Add cars into the mix and it is incredibly dangerous. I frequently have to walk on the campus road with my pre-schooler and baby in pram and cars travelling at speed / reversing without looking is a real worry. Absolutely support this campaign - thank you.
