This petition is to tackle the car parking issue at Pen-Y-Maes entrance. The route of the problem comes from insufficient parking spaces for all associated with the school, teachers and parents/cares and visitors. This is resulting in illegal parking on the pavements which has the potential to cause a serious incident if the issue is not addressed. We would like to see the following being done:
1. Identify why this car park is occupied all day.
2. If occupied by members that work at the schools, look for alternative ideas such as car share, parking somewhere else and walking, double parking in the designated area with a 'buddy' that leaves at the same time. Having a designated area in the bus park.
3.Putting in preventative measure to stop anyone parking on the pavements, cones, barriers with a gap to cross?
4.Anyone visiting the school and occupying a space, aim to have them leave before 2:30pm where possible when the car park is most needed and busy.
5.Re-open the side gate to Abbotts Walk, making parents aware they must then direct themselves towards the lollipop lady if needing to cross the main road.

I really never expected this to grow beyond my own small circle. It is completely overwhelming to see so many of you acknowledge how dangerous these pavements have become because this progress belongs entirely to your willingness to speak up.

It is so dangerous the way cars are parked on the side of the road on the way into to the car park(pen y maes side) , there should be double yellow lines on both sides on the way in and a pedestrian crossing so the children from maes y Felin as well as the high school children can cross safely. Very badly designed by someone!!!
The car park pen y Maes entrance is at least 70%full all through the day. Parking spaces been mainly taken up by teachers people on training courses support staff etc parents haven't got a chance.i have to get there by 2.40 to be able to park
I know that a couple of school children have nearly been hit by cars at the end of school days because of people trying to park on the pavements.
It’s not just this car park the drop is being used as a car park I’ve seen so many incidents where cars moving just missing kids it’s only a matter of time this shouldn’t be the case make it single file then cars have to drive out not park up and take kids into school

It would be great to open the Abbott's walk gate . Something needs to be done b4 someone gets hurt .

This issue has been ongoing since the school opened. I made a formal complaint after my daughter was almost hit by a reversing car. Opening the abbots walk gate would allow large amounts of kids and parents to leave the school via a safer route. Visitors to the school could use the high school bus car park after 9 am and leave before 3pm allowing more parking space at the pen y maes entrance for parents.
