students of Linden Primary School, linden road, Gloucesterare not safe on their journey to school! Every day at school drop off and pickup Parents/Guardians are parking on the yellow zig-zag lines right outside of the school gates. This is making it impossible for my 7 year old daughter who cycles to school ( 1.5 miles each way) with my husband (with our 3 year old in a seat on his bike) to safely pull into the school property following the rules of the highway code. It is impossible for them to get off the road as cars are parking along the dropped curb and they are having to stop and get off their bikes whilst still in the road and try to squeeze their bikes through the parked cars. There have been numerous near misses with cars coming along the road as it is extremely busy and crowded with people parking on both sides. I am really worried that not only are my family in danger of being knocked off their bikes due to the laziness of some parents but there is also no safe place for pedestrians to cross. They have to cross between (illegally) parked cars. We have complained to the school and a reminder about this has gone out in the newsletter, we've also had the police there on one occasion, moving people on. However the same cars continue to park there, day in day out, putting children at risk. Can you please help me ensure our children, forced to cross the road in an unsafe manner, are protected?
