The council confirmed today that they are installing the crossing on the A275. This victory belongs to every one of the 799 people who pushed for this change. Keep a close eye on the construction site to ensure they follow through with the full plan.

Please sign this petition for a safe crossing to be made on the A275 near to Mill Lane in Chailey, East Sussex. The A275 is an extremely fast road, which many school children who attend Chailey Secondary School cross on a daily basis. Following a recent accident involving a school aged child who was crossing the road we are now petitioning for East Sussex County Council to create a safe crossing for children and the general public.

why does someone have to get hurt before something is done .This happened to me years ago in the same place ,it was the closest I ever came in my life to running over a boy that ran across the road . Please fit a crossing before a child is killed R.M
Sick of seeing my children and others negotiating the busy A275 in order to get to school. Children will only wait for so long before they take risks. It will end badly for a child and/or a car driver. Why has Chailey been left behind, we have a popular secondary school, for goodness sake get us safe.
My daughter crosses this road every day to walk to school. Some days it takes her ages to cross as the traffic is so busy. Luckily she is patient but there have been times when it has made her late. The current roadworks have only exacerbated the situation. A crossing is essential.
I have lived in chailey for 20 years there has been 4 children have been hit by a vehicle. 2 in the last six months in south chailey the junction is narrow for buses and cars to come into mill lane. narrow paths and 40 on A275 no where safe for pedestrian to cross on very busy roads.
This section of the A275 near Mill Lane is in desperate need of a crossing. Council planning policy also needs to be revisited as the location of builders containers and road bollards is adding to the danger for the children at Chailey School.
This is a much needed crossing and has been in the works for many years. About time it was done. Needed by our grandaughter

This is a difficult road to cross due to the long bend, the busy junction and the relatively high speed (40mph) of traffic. As well as providing a safe place to cross, traffic lights would have a calming effect on the traffic.
