Petition for a pedestrian bridge over A23 near K2 & Thomas Bennett School
Today there has been yet another accident on the A23 on Brighton Road, near K2 & Thomas Bennett School in Crawley, West Sussex.
It is a dangerous area & doesn't have enough safe places for pedestrians to cross the constantly busy road.
Bearing in mind that there's a family leisure complex, Crawley Town Football Stadium & a Secondary School in direct vicinity of the A23, the crossings should be ample.
I am creating this petition to ask West Sussex County Council to have a pedestrian footbridge built across the road between K2 & the football club.

I have submitted a formal request for a traffic safety audit to the West Sussex County Council highways department. My focus is now on securing technical data regarding vehicle speed and pedestrian crossing frequency at this location to support our case.

This dangerous crossing has taking a very dear colleague of mine, a much loved bubbly young man who has always been a look on the bright side kind of person ! This could have been avoided! Please please prevent such tragedies in future
Clearly this should have been done when the k2 centre was built as a lesure centre will attact memebers of the public therefor making that area more busy and the road filled with more pedestrians one man has lost his life already dont make this more
I have that worry each and every day when my son has to cross that dual carriageway to get to Thomas Bennett. Many cars speed along that road and skip the lights because they are going to fast to slow down.
I use this crossing twice weekly on a Sunday, and although there is a 50 mph speed limit ... I am struck by the number of people who ignore this ... I can only imagine how busy this is on week days when children are crossing here from the Broadfield estate .... and people are hustling to get to work!
With the amount of children and families that have to cross the A23 between Stadium Roundabout and K2 twice a day, a single traffic light controlled crossing isn't safe ir sufficient, especially as the underpass by Stadium Roundabout is prone to flooding, so unusable at times.
How many more innocent lives will be lost before action is taken. There needs to be a bridge there. RIP rob my thoughts are with all those who knew him.
This should have been put to work years ago.

Twice while crossing at lights while green man showing have had cars that are in the filter lane pull away when their lights have changed and come straight on. This road needs a bridge while waiting in central reservation you feel very unsafe due to the speed of the traffic coming down the hill !!
