The boat ramps in the Kingston area are in a sad state. Parking is limited, locations are terrible, and the shape of some is a complete mess.
Its time for us as boaters, fisherman, and water lovers to speak up and get some attention brought to Loyalist Township to step up and put in a respectable boat ramp!
Boating means dollars, and dollars means money spent in the communities where boat ramp facilities are available.
Large fishing tournaments (Kingston Canadian Open) require anglers to Pre-Fish, meaning weeks prior to the events will scout out water for tournament day. Gas, meals, and lodging are what kind of economy to expect from these sorts of events.
The Poker Run offers high end, high performance boats that tour the City of Kingston waterways into the St Lawrence. Once all of those boats are parked and in the water, everyone flocks to the downtown area and the ramps and parking lots are full, let alone the downtown area where people are attracted to shop. Those wanting to get their own boats into the water makes it a difficult task, again, a Loyalist Township boat ramp would be ideal
I am asking you, the Loyalist Township Council, to take an opportunity to address this, and consider creating a boat ramp within Loyalist Township.

We hit our first major milestone today and the pressure on the township council is finally building. Post the link to your local fishing groups and email the council members to demand action on the Fairfield Park site.

Without a suitable launch in a suitable location people end up putting themselves at risk crossing longer distances in water that is under various and changing conditions.
Loyalist needs a good boat ramp. The ramp at Finkle Park is good but very hard to use without a dock. I'd like to see Loyalist put in a dock and expand the parking at Finkle Park.
Access to the water not only brings in extra revenue to surrounding businesses but shows a communities support to offering safe and reliable access to our incredible lakes.
We sure need a good ramp facility in the Kingston area with parking. We have some of the best waters in the world and people can't get there boats in the water to use them.
A boat launch would be a great asset to the community and generate some tourist dollars.

Hopefully the municipal politicians will approve a much needed boat ramp project instead of wasting tax dollars on another senseless study!
