Currently, there is no public boat access at the Swift Creek Reservoir for the residents of Chesterfield County. We feel that we should have access to this public water source. Many of us have boated, fished and enjoyed this water source for years or decades. Each person below is a resident of Chesterfield County and pays their taxes. We feel that we have a right to boat, fish and enjoy the reservoir.
We request that the County of Chesterfield fully fund and install a public boat ramp at the Swift Creek Reservoir with appropriate parking for vehicles and boat trailers.

We are approaching one hundred signatures and need a final push to hit that milestone before we take these names to the county office. Text three neighbors right now and tell them to sign this petition to secure our access to the water. Post the link to your Facebook page immediately so we can show the county how many residents want this ramp built.

Don't let a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Perhaps a county provided ramp, with trash cans and lighting, would help solve the trash issue. It is a shame and hopefully we can fix it. I don't recall seeing the trash problem at Chesdin...
Since the residents around the reservoir do not maintain this taxpayer funded body of water they should not be able to control access. The county needs to do the right thing and build a couple public access ramps with parking.
I believe that access to waterways are essential because it opens a gateway for our youth to explore recreational activities such as fishing and water sports. It also opens up opportunies for our youth to explore, learn, and gain a respect for their natural resources.
An early morning kayak paddle on Swift Creek Resevoir would be grand. It's interesting that the county paid to clear the land and flood 1600 acres to provide a drinking water source. A private lake with an essential public use. Except no public use allowed.
I have fished Swift Creek Reservoir since 1970. We had several places we could launch jon boats and conoes. We could also fish off the causeway on Woolridge Rd. Now that is all gone. I reside on Otterdale Rd and can't fish a lake 3 minutes away.
Please make a public access point for Chesterfield residents as we do pay taxes. It would be great to see Chesterfield open a public boat access for us. Please do the right thing.
Please open up access for local residence to enjoy small craft, boating, and fishing....

I have fished the reservoir since I was a kid and to not be able to share this with my children is ridiculous. I have to live in a certain neighborhood to have access. Well I pay taxes just like they do. And we deserve a boat ramp and access to fish.
