We are requesting the Core of Engineers to relocate the current no wake zone in Drakes Creek to create a safe zone for boaters, swimmers, canoers, tubers, and smaller vessels. The new no wake zone would extend from the gas dock at Creekwood Marina across the entire creek. When the current no wake zone was established, boats did not make waves like the current wake boats do. We are seeking to find a way where we can all co-exist peacefully. We see many benefits from relocating the no wake area.

1. Create a safe area for vessels that want to simply relax and float. Swimmers, paddle boarders, canoers, kayackers, tubers, would have an area free of the turbulent waves created by wake and/or ski boats and other large vessels created by wakes. Additionally, wake boarders and skiers would have an area free of distraction and make their experience more enjoyable.

Creekwood Marina is located at the end of Drake's creek and it isn't safe to ski or wake board much beyond the marina. Boats go down past the marina and have to turn around and come back out almost immediately, causing a double wake. In reality, they would not be losing much usable water.

2. Reduce liability for damage caused by turbulent waves. Current law is that you are responsible for damage to other boats caused by your wakes.

3. Reduce damage to boats moored in the marina caused by the constant onslaught of the wakes. Ripped cleats, stretched dock lines and guard rails ripped out by constant rocking caused by excessive waves are common. Family outings have been cancelled because the waves were so horrendous, small children were being thrown about and in danger of going overboard.

4. Reduce erosion to shore line and damage to docks and vessels for homeowners along the shore.

Such a narrow strip and boats fly through there , very dangerous and someone is going to get hurt . More and more boats all the time

My boat has lost cleats, and rails because of waves from wake boats. Needs to stop. Sorry!

This is a real problem. Besides being a danger for people in small boats it is hard on the boats that are docked in the slips. People who are trying to fish in small boats take a real beating.

Please. It would make it better for everyone. When people unload at the launch they come barreling down in front of creekwood meanwhile people are trying to load boats at creekwood but get rocked due to the waves. Thank you

Please enforce the no wake zone. I broke my foot in 3 places while unloading my boat and walking on the dock when a huge wave caused the dock to be unstable. Children can fall in the water. We all know no wake zones are put in place for our safety. We need the current law enforced.

We have been on the receiving end of those waves. Very unsafe for my family. Especially when fueling at the dock.

I'm at Creekwood marina! It would be great if we could do this!
