I was born and raised here in the North East community. Highway 41 a is vital artery that cuts across southern Duplin County and our community. We have witnessed many fatal car accidents due to speed over the years. The latest was July, 23 where unfortunately a man lost his life. This one literally hit me close to home because it happened in my front yard. Many community members have contacted the State about concerns in hopes of convincing them to lower the speed limit. Those attempts have failed.This petition is going to be our community's way of standing together and telling the State that lowering the speed limit through the River Landing and North East is a need!. Please sign and share. Help us protect our families and unknown travelers that drive this treacherous highway.

Please lower the speed limit.... the incident that happened in July hit close to home for me also.... it happened in the yard of a very good friend of mine.... I had her daughter in kindergarten.... she has two little girls.... they had JUST left their yard.... they have could be sitting in their driveway or walking to their mailbox....I know these are "what ifs" but it could have been so much worse.. a man did lose his life and I'm praying for his family....
The Highway 41 area now has double traffic from Interstate 40 to Chica pen. We have people that do know the area and travel above the speed limit. SLOW down!!
I would love to see this happen....I hate driving on 41.There has been so many wrecks and so many deaths....I have lived on 41 and I know they are always speeding going on....
My father in law died on 41 by a log truck hit his pickup this was in the north east area speed needs to be lower from ne to wallace
Please do something to make this road safer. My husband was flipped trying to pull in our driveway and later myself, my niece and great nephew was hit and flipped trying to turn in our driveway. Our neighbor across was hit from behind shortly after us. 3 wrecks in less than a year.
Also needs Patrolling too.More

I travel this road quite a bit from Wallace to Jacksonville and it is very congested and should be a slower speed. The speed that is now is way too fast and has caused too many accidents
