Hi, as a resident on Old Highway 8, I'm sure you've witnessed the excess speed from passing cars & motorcycles. I have only been on Old Hwy 8 (5549 at the end) for 3 years now, but I notice immediately that the speed limit should only be at most 35 MPH in front of our houses since all of our yards are so close. I tried putting my little green plastic man in my front yard hoping that would help but it still has not. So now I have talked to Dodge County NE Roads dept & they stated the first step to reduce the speed limit to 35 MPH is to have all neighbors sign a petition. Would you please sign this online petition so we can all be more comfortable with our kids & grand-kids playing in the front yard, as well as simple things like mowing our front yard & getting the mail? Dear Board Of Supervisors of Dodge County Nebraska Roads,

This is a PETITION SUPPORTING A SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION on Old Highway 8 from 4473 OLD HWY 8 to North 312th St (County Road 112). We, the undersigned residents of Dodge County, Nebraska, do hereby request Dodge County Roads reduce the speed limit on the aforementioned stretch of road to 35 MPH. This short stretch of road contains 21 residential homes right up against the highway and the current speed limit is way too high for safety purposes. Many residents including myself have young children that would like to play in the front yards without cars and motorcycles flying by at the current unsafe speed limit. Additionally, there are pedal bikers on this road constantly and their safety is in jeopardy.
