This place is not only somewhere for people to improve at cricket but for socialisation and acts as a safe haven and I really think it is a key part of the community

Mr Pickles. You are a common sense MP, and this is very much a common sense issue - or indeed non issue. Please see to it that Brentwood BC grant the necessary permissions so that the future of cricket in Brentwood & Shenfield is secured, and that cricketers of all ages can enjoy the game in a safe environment.

without nets as a practice facility you may as well cease being a serious cricket club. How do you teach the techniques of bowling and batting in a safe envirement ?

I feel strongly about colts cricket @ shenfield, these nets are dangerous and need urgent attention

With all the things in the news about a lack of children playing sport and recent injuries caused by cricket balls, have no idea why Brentwood council wouldn't encourage these nets to be improved!

Looking in from another club in the SNEL; I find it hard to accept that a local council would deliberately block an attempt to make a facility safer for kids; lets remember we are dealing with cricket balls here and they can hurt if the protection around isn't sufficient.
The youth sections of all clubs are the lifeblood of our game; take these away due to substandard facilities and clubs will start to disappear without trace.
Do the decent thing Brentwood BC and lift the embargo !!

The stance that the council are taking in this instance is disgraceful, underhand and disgusting. Time for them to change their approach and work cooperatively with local organisations for the positive benefit of young people.

After coaching at the club for 3 years I have seen the nets slowly degrade due to no action being made, and coaching 30 children on a Thursday and up to 40 on a Friday the nets In their current state they are practically unusable more importantly too dangerous.
The nets need to be allowed to built for use next season other wise the count of 230 children could seriously reduce.

This is a disgrace that young children are having this facility taken away. I hear the government moaning about the cost the NHS has for obesity, so why stop children playing in these facilities as it will lead to them turning to the cake and cookie tins.

The government are supposed to support and encourage sports for children, as part of a healthy lifestyle! This club provides valuable coaching to a large number of children in our community, and any action which hinders them in doing so is a discrace!!!

Given the level of obesity around the country, all sports facilities in the area need to be allowed to operate effectively. Youngsters are flocking to clubs in Hutton and Shenfield to attend training and practice sessions, help them hone their skills with the right equipment and ensuring safety for all
