We, the undersigned, support the creation of a new “Ranger Boulder” at the Teton Boulder Park to commemorate the contributions of the Jenny Lake Climbing Rangers to Teton mountaineering.
The Jenny Lake Climbing Rangers have been an integral part of Teton mountaineering for nearly a century, saving countless lives and carrying out rescues that have affected both local and visiting climbers. As well, the advances in technique pioneered by these brave men and women have influenced mountain rescue around the world.
The current park, while rich in history, omits this seminal chapter of Teton mountaineering. The addition of a Ranger Boulder would honor the contributions of our Rangers while addressing the Park’s popularity in a way that continues to add to its value as a community asset.
We believe the Ranger Boulder would be a great addition to the Teton Boulder Park and to our community, and support Teton County & Jackson Parks and Recreation’s approval of this project.

I have been meeting with the Parks and Recreation office to discuss how the boulder design can best honor the history of the Jenny Lake Climbing Rangers. Seeing their legacy recognized in such a tangible way feels more important than ever given how much they have protected our community.

Seeing this level of support for the Ranger Boulder makes my heart swell because I spent so many mornings watching those rangers head out to save people at the risk of their own lives. People clearly recognize that we owe these heroes a permanent place in our park. This momentum proves that we all want to ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

Perfect way to honor community heroes and further nurture the climbing community in the valley.
The Jenny Lake Rangers are integral to the history of climbing in the Tetons. Additionally, the boulder park is an incredible asset in this community and with the increase in climbing's popularity and no indoor climbing gym, another boulder would help make the facility safer and serve the community better.
The Jenny Lake Rangers risk their lives to save others; a boulder honoring these brave individuals and their contribution to the climbing community would be a valuable additional the the Teton Boulder Park.
I hope you will support expanding the Teton Boulder Park with the edition of the Jenny Lake Ranger memorial boulder. Climbing is an important part of our local history. And the boulder park is a great way to meet other climbers and stay strong. As well a memorial to local rangers is very fitting as they have been putting their life on the line for decades to insure Teton climbers safety.
Not only do the public boulders offer great recreational opportunity, they also build community. A new boulder would be a great way to honor those men and women who've made sacrifices to keep us safe in the mountains!
