Fireworks in Iowa are currently prohibited with the exception of gold sparklers, flitter sparklers, and snakes. Other fireworks are prohibited and can result in up to a $250 fine. When used responsibly, fireworks can be highly entertaining and fun for the entire family. Please sign this petition to legalize fireworks in Iowa.
I want to be able to buy and light off good fireworks without the law putting its big nose in my business.

I run an independent living home for seniors. They would love to have a small show out back of our 40 bed Home.

Fireworks should be legal in Iowa because their approved by the federal government, their safe if used responsibly, and they have warning labels on them. If you make them illegal people will go to different states to get them and Iowa will lose money. If fireworks are legalized it can create jobs, states can get a revenue, and it would be good for businesses. The police can focus on more serious crimes like murder. Iowa is mostly rural and it would not be fair for them because there is more openings around them and their away from people that they could harm. Fireworks can be fun to use as along their used properly. Things like cars, guns, tools are dangerous if not used responsibly and it also goes with fireworks. Things like prohibition and prohibiting prostitution had failed and they told us that you can't ban personal choices and substances.
