We want to help residents get out of the Lake Street traffic. That's why we proposed to the Board of Selectman to change the signs to allow residents to turn right on Wilson, Littlejohn, and Homestead.

Seeing this grow makes me feel like we might actually reclaim our neighborhood streets from the daily gridlock. My neighbors and I are tired of being trapped in our own driveways so thank you for helping us finally push for this change.

I suggest the added note excepting residents be in very small print. That might cut down on non-residents thinking that the rules are now relaxed and trying to use the neighborhood as a cut through. We'd simply spread the word in the neighborhood, and make sure the local police are aware of the change.
I strongly feel that Margaret St needs to be included in this as well. I have sat in traffic on Lake St for upto 40 mins at times just because I am not allowed to take a right. I also have been ticketed once for taking the right when I first moved in this area assuming that I was included as a resident.
Thanks, this has always irked me. (I don't like the idea of speed bumps either, though -- that's just a different form of penalizing everyone due to the actions of few. The roads in our neighborhood are terribly bumpy already!).
It is a huge nuisance not to be able to turn in to our own neighborhood. I also know that the signs are a deterrent to speedy cars cutting through to get back onto Lake Street. Nevertheless without a patrol car hidden I see many, many cars cut through and zoom down Mary Street. I'm not sure what the solution is; I like the idea of speed bumps that someone proposed.

I end up cutting through Kelwyn Manor so I can come out and then take a left off of Lake Street on Wilson Street so I can get to where I live on Littlejohn Street. Ridiculous!
