Children walking to Vail Field from the Elementary School must cross South Street, where cars and trucks regularly race through at speeds far in excess of the posted limit.

Please add your name to the list of concerned citizens urging the Woodstock Select Board and Village Trustees to purchase and install a radar speed sign at this location.

PS: By signing this petition, you give your permission to be contacted again, should that prove necessary.

Updates

September 28, 2020

The Woodstock Select Board is still ignoring our emails while cars continue to tear down South Street right past our children. This cowardice is putting lives at risk every single day. We are not backing down until they put a radar sign on that road.

I walk my dog through this area multiple times a day and I see first hand how fast many cars and trucks fly down a 25mph zone! A flashing speed sign would help make drivers more aware.

South Street has needed this for years. I lived on this street for 12 years trying to waive speeding drivers down from my front yard. Excessive speed in this stretch is one of the biggest hazards in the Village.

I live on Maple Street and my kids have been walking or biking to school for 14 years. It has been a constant problem and I'm grateful for the action to prevent tragedy.

Such an easy solution. Wouldn't we all feel terrible if someone were hurt at that location, and we failed to prevent it.

With changes in speed limits in various areas on any given highway, I’m certainly guilty of not always seeing the signs. These flashing radar signs have seem to be the most effective of getting a driver’s attention. I’m not sure how the village may not have the budget for it, but that’s a different matter worth looking into.

A solution is needed. I drive 15 mph through town and still find myself slamming on my brakes for pedestrians on sidewalks and in crosswalks. They are not well lit or marked. The crosswalk entrances are hidden by parked cars making pedestrians not visible to oncoming drivers. On winter evenings the situation is compounded; everyone is wearing dark colors; the lighting is poor; crosswalks are not marked or entrances visible. I support a solution

Gail, Children walking to Vail Field from the Elementary School must cross South Street, where cars and trucks regularly race through at speeds far in excess of the posted limit. A few weeks ago, you added your name to the list of concerned citizens urging the Woodstock Village Trustees to purchase and install a radar speed sign at this location. As you may have heard, the Trustees just gave us the nod to launch a $3000 fundraising campaign. If you haven't had the opportunity to make a donation, please go to https://gf.me/u/y6qi8i to contribute any amount between $1 and $50 ($100 for couples) to this effort. The sooner we reach our goal, the sooner the sign can be ordered, and the sooner we can slow traffic down in this sensitive area. Your donation today will be a great boost! Thank you...
