Powys County Council is going to trial Resident Parking Permit zones all over Hay-on-Wye. If we don't object to this, they will go ahead with the trial, which will surely become permanent. The scheme will allocate ONE permit per House costing £65/year. If you have any additional cars (most homes in Hay have 2 cars), you will ONLY be able to Park them in the MAIN Car Park, and that will cost you £150/year. If you cant find a parking space with your Permit Car on the Streets of Hay, you will need to buy another £150/year permit for the Main Car Park. So for a house with 2 cars, this will cost you £365/year! Hay residents will end up paying up to £365/year, for NO MORE additional spaces. Nothing at all! Some streets in Hay will have limited parking up to 1 hour for visitors, which will surely scare away tourists and visitors and affect the local businesses! These parking permit schemes have been proven to hurt small towns. We need to get as many signatures as possible for this petition to object to Powys County Council on this Parking Permit Scheme!
