Parking in Shoreham-by-Sea is about to be priced off the market and strictly policed. This petition is all about stopping local government from driving our local shops into extinction.
Mary Portas has already stated that free abundant parking is the lifeblood of small towns such as ours.
One hour free disc parking for residents as Steyning still enjoys would allow access for Shoreham residents to our local shops. Steyning is a thriving shopping centre. Shoreham is slowly closing down.
Why should we have to pay to park in our own town?
Holmbush has free abundant parking and without it the shops there would fail. Why does our council feel able to discriminate against local residents and businesses?
Shopkeepers are starting a campaign for 1 hour free disc parking in Shoreham.
To be clear we are asking for a scheme similar to that running successfully in Steyning, with free car parking for one hour in recognised car parking spaces.

The local council continues to ignore the fact that their parking greed is killing our town center. I am meeting with shopkeepers who are tired of watching their livelihoods vanish while bureaucrats refuse to implement the simple one hour disc scheme that works perfectly in Steyning. Keep the pressure on because they count on us staying quiet while our shops go under.

The local council cannot ignore us anymore now that this movement has gained so much steam. We are proving that Shoreham residents refuse to watch our shops die while the politicians sit back and collect parking fees.

The council does not really benefit from the money as they only sell off the rights for a third party to run the car parks only.
The council just wants to bleed us dry. I stopped shopping in town months ago and go to holmbush instead because its easier.
SHOREHAM IS DYING BECAUSE OF THESE CHARGES. look at the high street its just empty shops now sort it out
its getting impossible to pop into town for a loaf of bread without getting a ticket. leave us alone.
if steyning can do it why cant we. total joke
to charge for the very limited car parking is an outrage

Raise funds another way this is a viscous attack on local business. Also create more poblic slipways
