This is a request from the residents of Wells-next-the-Sea for parking permits to be put in place for all residential property in wells and to include parking permits for local businesses.

Due to the high increase of visitors to the local town car parks are filling very quickly, sometimes they are full by 10am. Once the car parks are full visitors the the area are now taking to our residential areas which is causing great distress to residents and making it extremely difficult to be able to park outside our homes after being at work, not only that but most roads become extremely dangerous for children.

The areas and roads where visitors are parking not only block foot paths and drive ways but also are a great cause for concern that if there was a need for emergency services there would no way that they would be able to drive down the street to attend because of visitors cars parking opposite each other, this is a great cause for concern by many residents of the area.

I personally have spoken to the police about this and have been advised by them to make this petition and have been advised that they will be contacting the local authorities and advising that parking permits may be the way forward to reduce and resolve the problems of non residential visitors parking on our residential streets.

This petition will be sent on to north Norfolk district council

I was walking down the street yesterday and counting all the cars blocking driveways again which honestly just makes my blood boil because how are the emergency services supposed to get through. The police have been responsive at least but the local council is still being totally silent despite the fact that our streets are becoming a literal parking lot for tourists. I am going to keep pushing on this because it is getting dangerous for the kids playing outside and I know everyone else is just as frustrated as I am.

I honestly never thought we would see this much momentum for something that started as just me being frustrated by blocked driveways. It feels like people are finally seeing how dangerous these narrow streets are becoming with all the extra cars and that validation is just huge.

As we do not have a driveway, we have to park our car on the road in front of our house. However, during the summer months it is increasingly difficult as day trippers fill our road by cars. The situation forced us not to go anywhere by car during the weekend. This situation is very frustrating.

It's getting ridiculous.. I am a care home manager and our residents can not be taken out just because is not safe, there is no space on the pavement to push the wheelchair. Also I am local, I have no allocated car park and to find a space became mission impossible.

Wells needs residents’ parking permits to ensure residents can access their properties and not be blocked by most visitors who do not care where they park. Bases Lane and Russell Close are prime examples of this.

Northfield lane, mill road and burnt street blocked today completely. Not able to see out of the junctions to drive safely. Wouldn’t take my daughter out on her bike because of it. Nielsen close has very limited parking and there were 10 cars down here today meaning residents had no access to their own properties.

Parking has just got beyond ridiculous in Wells. When a home owner cannot even park outside their own property. It’s like our own Lockdown. Working for the EEAST I worry how much longer it would take for an Emergency Ambulance or other Emergency Service vehicle to get to scene.

Not only residents, I feel care workers, emergency staff, home helps also need permits, my family members care workers couldn't find parking to care for her. Also another family member who is a home help, couldn't park to care for her clients. We actually could do with a park and ride as the town is in gridlock we can't cope with so many cars on the roads .

I'm a wheelchair user and it's dangerous to use the road when Wells is extremely busy. Paths/roads must be always clear for safety and emergencies.

We are not affected living on the Hopkins estate but think that residents shouldn’t have to put up with it. We did have neighbours illegally use their second home as a holiday let and the parking was terrible.
