PETITION:

KEEP OUR FIRE TRUCK

*Kona Paradise is currently under threat of losing its 20 years old Volunteer Fire Dept. and Fire Truck.

*If resolution isn't accomplished very quickly, the truck will be moved out of the community.

*KP Board has indicated that it was necessary to move the truck by October 1, 2022.

*Options are available to keep the Truck located near its present, optimal location.

Tell your Board that YOU want this important, vital service to remain in Kona Paradise, and ask it to explore options that can make that happen.

Thank You.

Updates

October 23, 2022

I have requested a formal meeting with the Board to review the alternative storage sites for the fire truck. The current plan to relocate the vehicle remains unacceptable and we are pushing for a documented agreement that keeps the equipment within the community.

October 23, 2022

The current volume of support necessitates a formal review of our proposal by the Board. I am finalizing the documentation to present these signatures alongside the identified alternatives for the truck location.

Dave Booth was on the car fire way before the firemen arrived. He did a fantastic job on the makai fire on lot south of KP this year. We live across the Hwy & the flames were frightening, really high hot flames.

I think it’s essential that we keep this fire truck. Our response times from Captain Cook Are unacceptable and an emergency. We need Dave Booth to be able to drive this fire truck and I would encourage the board to support Dave, John andThe other essential volunteers in our subdivision. I would also encourage compensation such as paying for their training. This serves our community.

Keep the truck in our neighborhood. We are extremely exposed without this protection. We have 350 homes and more being constructed...we exist in an isolated area. Very dangerous without some protection.

I was forced to move the fire truck as KPPOA threatened to sue county if I didn’t. KPPOA had a great solution, but wouldn’t consider the option. Remove the “Hate Wall” at the end of Ama, and erect a firehouse on Dan McKinley’s land which he was willing to lease to the county. The fire department was in agreement. When our KPPOA president told Fire Chief Moller that the wall would not be removed it took the option off the table, and the Fire Truck is now in Milolii. I want to thank all of you who cared.
