I am an alum of Mountain and am very sad by this news. I'm even more confused that as an alum I had no idea the school was struggling! I work in the financial and marketing sector and would have gladly volunteered my time to raise funds!
MCS was the foundation of our home and child rearing years! Our sons we shaped into men with deep roots and strong wings! The gift of MCS was the best gift we ever gave our children! I will do anything to keep this legacy alive!
I feel this entire matter was handled improperly. I also think it is wonderful to help so many "other" organizations such as your Africa mission, however............. let's take care of your local parishioners FIRST. The decision needs to be reconsidered and handled in a more professional, humane manner.
The leadership said that they made every effort to keep the school open however if they haven't contacted the alumni and the parents of the students for suggestion,support etc... certainly not everything was tried. There are a lot of potential donors etc...among all those that love and care about MCS and that was a resourse that should have been tapped into before a final decision was made.
At least keep the school open one more year and give the community a chance to work together to fix this.
Most of the signatures on here have nothing to do directly with the school. Or the church. Why don't you focus your efforts on helping school parents find a new school for their children rather than continuing to stir up emotions? And, Steve, I hope you have cleaned up that filthy language on your Facebook page. It should embarrass you and your family.

We came to MCS almost two years ago and it has made an incredible difference in the lives of our children. They are flourishing academically, socially and spiritually. One of our children had great struggles before coming to Mountain. It has been amazing to watch her self-confidence blossom. She sobbed of hours when she heard the news. We are devastated. Please save our school!
