Let Maury County School Board know that this is the time to Save McDowell Elementary School with your signature of support! With a tax referendum promise of school improvements benefiting through a tax increase we supported that and saw a promise broken. Columbia is growing and now is not the time to close an elementary school. A Covid Relief check of $18 million is 'in the mail' to Maury County with a stipulation that it goes to maintenance of public schools. What better time than when the school is emptied of students and furnishings to renovate Columbia's oldest school in the heart of the Historic District and protect all the elementary age children from overcrowded schools through an inappropriate closure! Let your voice be heard for all the children

I was June Webb Tomlinson. My great grandmother was principal of McDowell many years ago.
This is a huge part of Maury County and Columbia History. It deserves preservation. Best school in the county.
All the children in Maury County are equal in everything except funding. While growth in Northern Maury County is a given, not everyone can afford to live in the new construction in that part of the county. It is time to be wise part our sending the new funds and the improvements to McDonald should be at the top of the list. All children have the capacity to excel when given the educational support they need! Renovate instead of building new is a viable option. Let's support this undertaking to offer a chance for McDonald to be renovated and available to the children who live in these neighborhoods that surround our downtown!
As a child I attended this school and spent summers on the playground and at playbook making items for gifting. We need to keep our neighborhood schools!
A centrally located school such as McDowell Elementary is needed in our downtown area. Please use the tax money that was promised us, and the Covid relief funds that are coming, to revitalize it!
