The board finally came to their senses and confirmed Dan is staying. They tried to push him out for living a normal life but they hit a wall with us. Keep watching them closely because we will be ready if they try this nonsense again.

He is a grown adult and just because he is a chancellor doesn't mean he can't go out like the rest of these people. We just hit 100 signatures and the board needs to realize they cannot just push around a chancellor who actually connects with students. Stop trying to turn our campus into a sterile office environment and let the man stay.

We tell educators and school officials to be relatable to students and yet Dan is being punished for actually making an effort to do just that. As a fellow educator and ECU alum, I am appalled that this situation is even an issue to begin with!
So what. He went out and had a drink in the town that he lives in. I haven’t heard that he broke any laws; didn’t get arrested for DWI, didn’t get drunk, didn’t receive any complaints for harassment or do anything else that was objectionable. Find some real news but leave him alone.
Dan Gerlach should absolutely not be punished for this event. He was instrumental to, not only my, but hundreds of students’ college success and ECU would lose an invaluable resource if he were asked to leave. I stand in solidarity with Dan.
Please keep Chancellor Dan! As an alumni of 2003 and 2005, he is the best chancellor we have had. As a previous student athlete and dance team alumni, we never had interaction and involvement from a chancellor like him.
KEEP CHANCELLOR DAN! he is one of the VERY few chancellors who is known to students , engages with students, knows them by name, works way overtime to go to events and much more most students at other colleges hasent even seen their chancellor before he don’t deserve this treatment at all!

As a 68 year old mom of a 2012 ECU grad. & sister of a ‘75 graduate & soon-to-be mother in law of a 2014 ECU grad, to say that our 5 families are big supporters of ECU would be an understatement! We do not support philandering, lying or any other lewd behavior or illegal behavior of anyone, esp.ly ECU administrators. NONE of that happened here. There was even an inebriated woman throw out of this venue for harassing Mr. Gerlach. Please leave this man alone & let him get back to his job. And be thankful that students actually LIKE an administrator of ECU. It’s about time students & parents have someone who actually cares.

I am an ECU alum. I graduated in 2012 and had an amazing college career at ECU. This gentleman has done nothing to endanger or harm students- it would’ve been really nice to see a leader out and about back when I attended the school.
