Over the past 13 years, Dr. Jonathan Gueverra, known by most as Dr. G, has transformed the College of the Florida Keys into an institution that our community can be immensely proud of. Whether helping students recover after hurricanes or pandemics, supporting those facing personal hardships, or simply taking the time to know students by name and listen to their concerns, he has consistently demonstrated that he values people—not just their academic success, but their well-being. That kind of leadership is exceptionally rare and has made a lasting difference in countless lives throughout the Florida Keys.
Despite all the good he has done for our community, a newly restructured Board of Trustees is now seeking to terminate Dr. Gueverra as president.
This effort has raised serious concerns throughout the Florida Keys community. Many students, alumni, faculty, staff, business leaders, community members, and public officials recognize Dr. Gueverra's extraordinary contributions and believe his leadership has been instrumental to the college's growth, stability, and success.

Dr G. Has done a great job - even board assembled to oust him have admitted so publicly. Furthermore, their criticisms are hollow & obviously blown WAY out of proportion, but to add perspective to their criticisms of the “small things he’s bad at”… Ted Williams is regarded as one of the best baseball players of all-time. He was an average outfielder, slow runner, and was surly. Imagine if Boston got rid of their only great player of that era. Dr. G has been GREAT! His body of work proves that.
His passion for The College of the Florida Keys made a small 2 year associate college with no dorms to the 4 year accredited college with dorms, multi-campuses and degrees not only in college necessary careers but in local trades that the Keys are in desperate need of.
He helped my brother during hurricane Irma. He gave my brother more time to finish his work and be able to do his assignments electronically. He definitely show how much he really cares about helping other get to where they need to get.
Dr. G, has been a guide and support for many students over the years, including my son Danny Valladares. He helped him complete his education by understanding the difficult times we were going thru and for that I will forever be grateful. I’m sure there are many stories of students he has helped over the years, he is an asset to the Key West college.

PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS MAN GO ! He has been so great ! He helped my little brother soooo much guide him through school and life ! He is a wonderful mentor , cares about his students and to let him go would be a tragedy. Please do NOT do this .

Because of Dr. G. our island college has grown so much. He brings more than knowledge to this college and community. So many special needs teens and adults have also benefited from the programs he made possible for them. It would be a huge loss to all of Minroe County to let him go. Don't try and fix something that isn't broken for personal reasons and gain. The people want Dr. G.
