The county backed down and Chubbs is officially allowed to stay home with us. This struggle took everything out of me but knowing he is safe makes the exhaustion worth it. We will keep an eye on the local codes to ensure no one tries this again.

This petition is to ensure the safety of our pet pig, Chubbs. The county is working to take him from us. As many families have a bond with their dog, my father and I have a bond with our pig. Please sign if you believe we should be able to keep our Chubbs, and keep him at our home.

The weight of the county is still pressing down on us but seeing how many people understand our bond with Chubbs gives me a reason to keep fighting. This momentum proves that we are not alone in this struggle.

Pigs are really no worse than dogs, cats, birds, or any other animal that people keep as domesticated pets. And it has been scientifically proven they are intelligent and form emotional bonds. Removing a pet that is well cared for is wrong.

I'm sad to hear our county is trying to disrupt this family with such trivial ordinances. This pig has created a loving bond with them as they think of him as one of the family. We think of our cats & dogs as our children. This is the same scenario, he was a rescue. Please don't uproot Chubbs from the love & trust he has with this family.

no harm to animal, seems happy and healthy. it is Virginia, if you weren't aware people have many different breeds of animals as a "pet" on their property that don't own a farm.

Chubbs is a pet. Not livestock. Seriously. Appomattox, you can try all you want to be a fancy county, but at the end of the day, you’re still just “that town near farmville”. Just embrace it and let the man keep his pet.

The county has no leash law and dogs are allowed to roam on your property destroy and nothing is done, yet a pig that is a pet secured in a cage has to go ??

It would be understandable if they were not taking care of the pet! He looks healthy and very well taken care of! And separation anxiety happened to any animal that has been removed from their home! And it’s quite literally capable for the animal to pass away due to being moved because the vain to his heart will thin and he will pass from to much stress! And separation anxiety Is stress by all means! - Jonah Meredith Associates in Biology and Animal Medical Terminology/Care
